The implication of sitting for more than eight hours a day can have a serious impact on a your health. I haven’t said you should quit your jobs please if you found yourself to be sitting for long hours, rather try to walk around in between every hour. Sit for a maximum of 30 minutes at one go.
Well, the reality is that it is difficult to avoid sitting a lot in our world today that are mostly industrialized, but the impact of the movement cannot be equaled.
Note this please:
LOW risk indicates sitting less than 4 hours per day.
MEDIUM risk indicates sitting 4 to 8 hours per day.
HIGH risk indicates sitting 8 to 11 hours per day.
VERY HIGH risk indicates sitting more than 11 hours per day.
Break time isn’t enough for you, move around more if you fall into high risk or very high risk.
It is true that everyone has a different body, so the ideal response can vary between people.
There are too many other factors that need to be taken into account.
What position(s) are you adopting?
How healthy are you?
How long are your working hours?
Which industry do you work in?
How soft is your chair that you sit on?
Adding movement into your daily routine doesn’t necessarily have to mean starting a rigorous workout program. In general, it’s important to just get up from your chair or couch at several points throughout the day. If you’re sitting and watching television, get up and walk around for at least five minutes every time a program ends.
You reduce the risk of back pain that comes from sitting too long, you help raise your metabolic rate and accumulate less fat, you burn calories, you strengthen the back and hip muscle, you improve the strength and vitality of your legs and of course get a healthier set of organs and much more with getting around more than you are sitting.
If we were to reduce our sitting to less than three hours a day, it’s said that we can increase our life expectancy by up to two years.
Likewise, if we reduce the amount of time we spend watching TV to less than two hours each day, we’d gain back an additional 1.4 years.
prolonged periods of sitting also seem to increase the risk of death from cardiovascular disease and cancer.
Any extended sitting — such as at a desk, behind a wheel or in front of a screen — can be harmful.
